Generalized uncertainty principle and its implications on geometric phases in quantum mechanics

چکیده
Abstract We study the implications of generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) with a minimal measurable length on some quantum mechanical interferometry phenomena, such as Aharonov–Bohm, Aharonov–Casher, COW and Sagnac effects. By resorting to modified Schrödinger equation, we evaluate lowest-order correction phase shift interference pattern within two different GUP frameworks: first one is characterized by redefinition physical momentum only, other Lorentz covariant which also predicts non-commutativity spacetime. The obtained results allow us fix upper bounds deformation parameters may be tested through future high-precision experiments.

Quantum Mechanics and the Generalized Uncertainty Principle
There is reason to believe in the existence of a minimal length that can in principle be measured. This viewpoint stems in part from the realization that if enough massenergy is confined to a small region of space, a black hole must form. For example if one increases the energy of colliding particles beyond the Planck energy, one expects the short distance effects to be hidden behind an event h...
متن کاملHorizon Quantum Mechanics of Generalized Uncertainty Principle Black Holes
We study the Horizon Wavefunction (HWF) description of a generalized uncertainty principle inspired metric that admits sub-Planckian black holes, where the black hole mass m is replaced by M = m ( 1 + β2 M2 Pl m2 ) . Considering the case of a wave-packet shaped by a Gaussian distribution, we compute the HWF and the probability PBH that the source is a (quantum) black hole, i.e. that it lies wit...
متن کاملGeneralized Uncertainty Principle and Quantum
In the present work the role that a generalized uncertainty principle could play in the quantization of the electromagnetic field is analyzed. It will be shown that we may speak of a Fock space, a result that implies that the concept of photon is properly defined. Nevertheless, in this new context the creation and annihilation operators become a function of the new term that modifies the Heisen...
متن کاملA Generalized Uncertainty Principle in Quantum Gravity
We discuss a Gedanken experiment for the measurement of the area of the apparent horizon of a black hole in quantum gravity. Using rather general and model-independent considerations we find a generalized uncertainty principle which agrees with a similar result obtained in the framework of string theories. The result indicates that a minimum length of the order of the Planck length emerges natu...

Stuart Althorpe Geometric phase effects in reaction dynamics If a reaction path follows a closed loop that encircles a conical intersection (electronic degeneracy), then the path will acquire a geometric phase. This talk will describe recent work aimed at finding out what (if any) is the effect of this phase on the mechanism and rate of a chemical reaction. First, we discuss systems in which th...
